13 December 2021: 14.00 – 15.00 CET
Description: The talk will problematize one of the most pervasive aspects of Western academic research and knowledge production: Eurocentrism. It will scrutinize power relationships in knowledge production within the academy, and discuss the importance of situated knowledges in research practices by elaborating on ‘accountability’, ‘positionality’ and ‘partiality’ as ways to thwart of hegemonic knowledge production. Suggestions towards divesting Eurocentrism in the university will also be presented.
Speaker: Stella Saliari (Gender Study, Utrecht University)
